Mobile Oxygen Banks

With silicosis affected persons being at a significantly higher risk of contracting COVID – 19, MLPC undertook a mapping exercise of areas of high incidence of silicosis cases and provided mobile oxygen concentrators – first of their kind in the country – to those who have been worst affected by silicosis.

These banks are operated by the mining community and the Auxiliary Nurse Midwives (ANMs).  MLPC began with providing one industrial oxygen bank and has since then expanded to z. This service can be the difference between life and death for the people located in these remote communities and do not have the wherewithal to travel to reach health services.
